What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a hands-on therapy which assists the body's natural capacity for self repair. It has been developed from discoveries about the body's subtle physiology which show that our cells express rhythmic movement fundamental to life. Development of these discoveries over the years has refined the therapy into the unique style of deep listening that it is today.
Can Craniosacral Therapy Help Me?
Craniosacral Therapy is suitable for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. It owes its popularity to the effectiveness of its gentle approach. You do not have to be ill or have any particular symptoms to benefit from Craniosacral Therapy. The easing of life's stresses and the increase vitality and well being that Craniosacral Therapy can bring are welcome at any time.
What Happens In A Craniosacral Session?
Craniosacral therapists are trained to feel the subtle motion in the body and notice where there are areas of restriction. Then using gently touch without manipulation, the therapist helps to relive pain or tension. This can have profound physical and psychological benefits.
In a session you will lie, fully clothed, on a treatment table while the therapist makes light contact with their hands and listens to what is going on in your body. You may feel sensations of heat, tingling sensations, gentle pulsing, a feeling of increased gravity or a sense of profound meditation and relaxation. Many would describe it as blissful. The resulting changes can help in reducing stress, and increasing well-being.
Registered therapists are accredited by the Craniosacral Therapy Association which upholds standards of practice. Practitioners are entitled to use the letters RCST (Registered Craniosacral Therapist) after their names.
